STUDIO 1 Audition 2022
Parent and Student Information Packet
First, we want everyone to feel invited to be a part of one of our competitive teams for the 2022-2023 year! There is a level for everyone! We have expanded our program to enable more dancers to be a part of one of our teams! For those dancers who are interested in auditioning for one of our competition teams, we will be holding these auditions on May 13th-14th. We evaluate our dancers each year to insure their best class placement for the upcoming year.
Dancers will be learning their audition combos at home from a video and will have some time to practice before coming into the studio to dance in front of our teaching staff. This will help to keep the audition times short and will hopefully help them to feel less stressed so we can see them at their absolute best. They will come into the studio at the designated time for their age group and review the combos in person before the audition starts. During the audition, only the Director, a few teachers and two judges will be present. The audition is closed to all other observers.
The cost to audition is $40 per dancer. You will need to have this fee paid before we will send the video links out. We will send out videos starting May 1st after your registration fee has been paid. Please fill out the registration form attached by email or have your current dancer bring it in. If you have any questions regarding a Studio Team or Company, please contact the office at 801-224-8738 or by E-mail Studio1orem@yahoo.com.

Dancers who demonstrate more advanced skills during the first audition will be invited back to attend our ADVANCED Company Audition May 14th. Dancers will be notified at the end of the Friday audition what time they would be needed on Saturday. The company audition combos will be taught the day of the Saturday Audition and dancers will need to learn and audition them the same day.
*Dancers who are wishing to be considered for our advanced teams will need to pay a $150 non-refundable deposit along with a parent permission slip allowing the dancer to be placed on our Company level. The $150 fee will be credited towards your July 2023 tuition if placed on any Company level. If the dancer is placed on a team level this will be credited towards the May 2023 tuition fee. Fees are nonrefundable
Being invited to this audition does NOT guarantee a spot on one of our Company teams. All dancers need to stay for the duration of the Audition in case call backs are made. In some circumstances we may ask dancers to attend both the Junior and Teen/Senior Audition.
Saturday, May 14th:
Junior Company Audition: 10:30am-11:30am Jazz Combo, 11:30am-12:30pm Ballet Combo, 12:30-2pm Audition
Teen/Senior Company: 2:30-3:30pm Jazz Combo, 3:30-4:30pm Ballet Combo, 4:30-6pm Audition
Please note: All placement decisions are made with each student’s best interest in mind and are based on class participation, attendance, progress, ability and attitude. Our levels are structured for students to remain on the same level for several seasons, continuing to grow and progress within that level. We also take into consideration their age group that they would be placed in by the competitions we attend. Each individual dancer learns and progresses at their own pace. At times students need to remain on the same level in order to master skills that will be needed to move up. The Directors and Teachers at Studio 1 evaluate each dancer carefully and make individual decisions for each team member to help them progress. All decisions made by Studio 1 are final and will not be discussed at any time.
What Happens After Auditions:
Emails will be sent out one week after auditions. On May 23rd we will post all teams at the studio. The email will inform you as to which team your dancer has made, a brief overview into the year to come, when your specific orientation meeting time is, and what is due at orientation meeting. Orientation meeting must be attended by both dancer and their parent or legal guardian to be placed on the team. There are no exceptions to this rule! Dancers will not be placed on the team unless orientation meeting is attended. Orientation meeting will be held on Monday June 6th, 2022.
